DIR Floortime · In-home therapy · New Jersey
Children learn best through play. Our trained Floortime players come to your home and use the games your child loves to build connection, communication and confidence, one goal at a time.
Our approach
DIR Floortime is a developmental, relationship-based approach created by Dr. Stanley Greenspan and Dr. Serena Wieder. Instead of drilling skills, we join your child's play and gently stretch each moment into a chance to connect, communicate and solve problems.
Every session has a purpose. Your child's player works toward the goals set in their assessment, and we track progress so you can see it.
We meet your child where they are developmentally and build the foundations for what comes next.
Every child takes in the world differently. We tailor each session to how your child senses, moves and responds.
Growth happens through warm, trusting relationships, with your player and most of all with you.

Our founder
Learn Through Play was founded by Morris Kellman, DPT, a doctor of physical therapy who trained in DIR Floortime through ICDL (the Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning) and holds Training Leader certification.
As a physical therapist, Morris saw that helping a child grow takes more than building strength or practicing stairs and jumping jacks. Emotion, engagement and play were what truly moved children forward, and that is what drew him to DIR Floortime.
He still remembers a young boy who came to every session ready to arm wrestle. Morris matched his strength with just enough resistance to make him work, and always let him win in the end. Week after week his arms got stronger, and he left every session sure he was stronger than his therapist. That is Floortime: real progress, carried by joy.
Morris knows how hard it can be to raise a child with autism or developmental challenges. Learn Through Play is not just another service. It's a team that cares, here to lighten your load and help your child experience joy, connection and growth.

DIR stands for Developmental, Individual differences, Relationship-based. Floortime is the hands-on part, where an adult joins the child's play and gently stretches each interaction to build new abilities.
A Floortime player is the trained provider who comes to your home and plays with your child, using that play to work on your child's goals. Every player is guided by an experienced DIR supervisor.
ABA is usually adult-directed and focuses on teaching specific behaviors. Floortime is child-led: we start with what interests your child and use that shared engagement to strengthen attention, regulation, communication and thinking. Some families use both.
We accept Wellpoint and Fidelis Care. Have a different plan? Reach out and we'll check your benefits for you.
Insurance plans generally require one for coverage. If your child doesn't have a diagnosis yet, reach out anyway and we'll talk through next steps.
